“They call me Robin, Robin of Loxely.” The young man said with a smile.
Eva smiled back, she knew that Robin was not his real name as well as the added Loxely bit, but he was the man she was sent to aid, and she knew him not by his name, but by his soul mark.
As an Agarthan, she didn’t care much for his alias, her mission was what he was supposed to do, just a nudge to lead him to the correct path.
The chronicler was very clear, Robin, or whatever his name is, had to be led to a certain path that would benefit the prophecy of the united colors.
“I heard you had a passion for mischief.” Eva’s smile grew as Robin rubbed his head and looked back at his friends.
“Not more than the usual, just enough to pass by.” Robin winked, and all his friends started to stifle apparent laughter.
He was the one, it couldn’t be any easier, Eva grabbed a chair and sat. “Well, if you are not up to it, I can always take my business elsewhere.”
“I didn’t say I will accept it anyway, so you might as well do just that.” The young man shrugged, then turned and headed to the inn’s center.
Eva let Robin go, and ordered from the passing serving woman a pint of their local brew.
She sipped slowly on her jug, it always baffled her that back home they never managed to get the same taste, something to do with the indirect sunlight in Agartha, and the refraction and separation of the light waves.
Robin started to sing a raunchy galloping piece, to the cheering and accompaniment of his friends.
Eva finished her drink, made a show of going to the innkeeper to pay her dues, and left the inn.
She walked slower than her usual pace, she was not in any hurry to lose her tail.
The moment she moved out of the center of the town and she started to enter the rural areas, they jumped her.
There were six of them, all wearing hoods, and scarfs around their faces.
“Empty your pockets, stranger.” The tallest of the men pulled out a long keen edged dagger and pointed it at her.
Eva smiled, and pulled out of her pocket the huge golden nugget she offered to Robin.
She then pulled on her soul to change form, she was a red, and a shapeshifter of the first order. Those men had no chance.
As her body started to stretch, and her arms thickened, the looks of horror on the faces of the men were thrilling and satisfactory.
As a woman, she was only five feet tall, but as a Minotaur, she pushed around nine, and if this was not enough to terrify the gang, she squeezed the golden nugget flattening it in her fist.
Eva felt the irony of her terrifying look in the ever stretching dress the purples gave her, with all the silk and frills it had, she was one stylish minotaur.
The men started to run away, all but one fleed her sight.
“I am now ten times more intruigued by your business proposition than ever.” The only man standing pulled the scarf and the hood, and as she expected, it was Robin.
She started to change back to her human form. “Good, because you will not be serving me, but a far higher purpose, and I promise you that it will be worth your troubles.” Eva shrank back to her normal height.
“Alright, I am listening.” Robin crossed his arms over his chest.
“You know the tax collection carriage that passes through your woods to the city?” Eva pulled a folded map.
“Sure, it is the heaviest guarded carriage to pass these roads.” Robin scoffed.
“You are going to rob it.” Eva smiled wildly. “And you are going to give the gold back to the poor people.”
“I will?” Robin looked at her with mocking raised eyebrows.
“Oh, yes, I assure you that you will.” Eva laughed.
