Rose walked silently on the stone paved streets, people milled around her as she headed towards the library of Alexandria, she had to be there before mid-day.
But she couldn’t just run for it, it would look very suspicious, and the state of affairs was tremulous to say the least, her running would complicate things endlessly.
In fact, Rose knew something that almost nobody walking around her diminutive form knew, the library of Alexandria will be burned to the ground today.
She was glad that her skin color didn’t raise any suspicions, the olive tinge was accepted by the people of the Mediterranean basin, specially around the library of Alexandria, where hundreds of scholars came to visit each day.
She was also encouraged by the fact that she was short because she was Agarthan, didn’t cross the minds of those scholars, they just ignored her altogether.
But Rose’s heart was beating a storm in her chest, her clasped hands were clammy with sweat, and her darting eyes were trying to catch sight of everything at once.
As an orange, her abilities had to do with nature, and there was not much of that on her way, the library of Alexandria was a building surrounded by other buildings, not a single animal in sight, and the trees were mute, none of them spoke back to her.
She felt alone, so alone.
Yet, she had a mission, a very defined one, take a single manuscript from the library before the fire would reach it, and she had a single hour to accomplish this.
All of a sudden, the library loomed over her, she was not intimidated by its immense size, but rather by the amount of people going and coming from the doors of the famous library of Alexandria.
She walked on light feet inside, approached one of the many librarians, and said, “Good day, I would like to borrow one of the manuscripts of Plato.”
“Do you have a missive to borrow the manuscript?” The librarian gazed on her short stature, which she assumed was his way in trying to decide if she was a child or a very short woman.
“Yes.” Rose fumbled in her dress recesses and produced a rolled parchment. “Here it is.”
The Librarian checked the parchment, and his eyes widened, “I am so sorry your ladyship, please, follow me.”
The forgery was that perfect, Rose smiled to herself as she followed the librarian, and thought, those greens know what they are doing, they are the best in subterfuge.
In less than half of an hour, Rose walked out with the valuble manuscript in her hand, she had the Timaeus and Critias dialogues, and now, Atlantis can be found by her fellow Agarthans.
She traveled almost a thousand years back in time to get this manuscript, now, they can work on returning the blues and the yellows.

Nice!! Love it!
That was a Great intro. How about sending an ARC my way? I am retired military and disabled so my fixed income doesn’t leave room to purchase novels. I rely on ARC and free novels to feed my “need to read sci-fi”. Thank you!
