“Under one sun, a diamond sun, we all share the same truth.” Annias recited the slogan of the order verbatim, without thought or emotion.
He then sat with the nine others around the ornate black table, in a hidden room that could be only accessed by a secret sequence at the door knob of the justice hall.
“Bother Florine, you have updates on the rumored green girl in Robin’s Place?” A woman sitting facing the door of the room, addressed a balding man to her left.
“She is not green.” Florine shook his head in negation, then he said, “She was just a fast blooming purple.”
Gloom descended on the occupants of the room.
“Well, at least we don’t have to keep the protection spell over Robin’s place,” a man to the right of Annias said. “It has been very taxing to keep it on those last weeks.”
Annias nodded, he was one of the three keeping the spell alive, and he was relieved to let it frizzle at last.
“There is something strange in Mountain’s Child,” a woman to the right of Annias said, “they have this boy, who is performing miracles with water finding and he is too young to be a water mage.”
“Some water mages show the talent quite early,” Annias said in dismissal, “could be just one of our own, exceptionally talented, nothing more.”
“Or he could be green,” the woman facing the door said. “Set a watch on him.”
Soon the gathered ten purple mages started to leave the room, but before Annias could reach for the doorknob, the woman who sat facing the door held his arm.
He let the last of the members of the order leave, then he turned to the woman, “What is it grand mistress?”
“Spies of the dragon lady have been caught this morning,” she said, licked her dry lips and continued, “they were purple, and they worked at grand council as clerks.”
“How did they pass the vetting?” Annias’ brows climbed all the way to the top of his forehead.
“Doesn’t matter,” she said. “What matters is that this is a sign, the prophecy is in motion, may it spare us.”
“May it spare us,” Annias solemnly repeated.
They both stood in silence for a moment, hoping that it was not the time for the fulfillment of the prophecy of colors, too much was at stake, and none of the greens escaped the massacre of the dragon lady.
