“John, are you sure your invention would work?” Celeste hovered around John and he was wearing a special metallic suit.
“More than just sure, I know that it will work.” John finished clothing himself and turned to Celeste and kissed her on the cheek.
“I believe you, but why are you wearing such shiny attire?” She chewed on her lower lip. “Don’t you think something less eye-catching would be advised when you unveil the machine?”
“I hoped for some regal attire, but this is essential to fend the leaked heat radiation from the machine hitting my body.” John gave have a wide smile as he held her shoulders tightly. “You don’t want your future mate to be roast of John, or do you?”
She laughed a nervous laugh and hugged him. “Of course not, I want you safe and sound after all of this had passed us.”
“I will, don’t worry.” John moved with increased energy and a wide smile out of the lab towards the grand balcony of the center palace.
Celeste followed him, and she smiled to him every time he looked back.
But in her heart, she was very worried. She was not worried that John will fail, but still something ate her from inside, something was about to happen and she didn’t know what it was yet.
They entered the balcony, where all the ruling caste was present with the city council members and not less than one hundred other people,
All of those people came to see John and his machine pave the way for the soldiers of Atlantis against the Akakor and its beasts.
From the balcony, everybody could see the city barrier going up, as the army of Akakor was already within striking distance.
The great magic behind the barrier was old, so old that none of the city residents even knew how it worked.
Six assistants in similar shinning suits soon joined John, and to the wonder of everyone in the balcony, they started to climb the balustrade to the top dome behind the balcony.
Some of the people in the balcony started to whisper in panic and fear as the first projectile of Akakor hit the barrier.
Others craned their necks to see where John and his assistants were going.
“They are running away.” A woman in regal attire screamed as she pointed to John and his assistants.
“Worry not, good people of Atlantis.” Celeste turned a full circle between the people in the balcony. “John needed a far bigger machine to counter the army of Akakor. Please, be patient.”
Looks of wonder circled the crowd, but in the case of the council members, they were looks of fear, looks of terror that were all concentrated on the back of a man wearing a metallic shiny suit.
John reached the top of the dome with his assistants as the third projectile hit the city’s barrier.
The dome itself was one huge crystal laced by a framework of silver, gold and platinum to draw the sign of the rising sun which was the oldest symbol for Atlantis.
Above the dome, he and his assistants found seating in junction points of the lattice work, then John shouted to them over the roar of the fourth projectile hitting the barrier, “Now.”
John and each of his assistants threw a lever in front of them.
Slowly the dome started to rise in the air, as its framework lattice started to transform into a towering machine one hundred times bigger than the one John demonstrated to the council members.
“When did he do this? How did he do this? And how we were kept in the dark concerning all of this.” The head of the council addressed Celeste as rage swam in waves across his face.
“In the last three days, with the help of the head of the engineering council member.” Celeste gave him a wide radiant smile. “We are all working together for the well being of Atlantis, are we not?”
Before the councilman could answer her, the whole balcony shook violently.
All necks craned up to watch the brilliant light emitting from the dome crystal towards the front line of Akakor’s army.
The barrier opened a section to let the ray of pure white light pass through to the soldiers amassed at the edge of the city.
The head of the council turned to face Celeste. “John had control of the barrier, how?”
Celeste gave him a confused expression that matched the one on his face and both turned to watch as the evaporated near a hundred men in the blink of an eye.
The people of Atlantis all watched with fascinated horror as John’s machine ate away at the army of Akakor, rank after rank.
Soon, all could see the rest of the army running in terror and their screams could be heard all over the plazas of Atlantis.
But John didn’t stop.
The white devastating ray followed the fleeing army, burning through ofrest and terrain as it evaporated everything it touched in mere moments.
The Atlantians could see John adjusting the machine to point its ray all the way though the forest towards the city of Akakor.
Celeste climbed the balustrade as fast as she can do, then once at the base she cried out, “Stop! Stop John, please.”
she cried and cried, and finally after the ray of the machine had evaporated no less than half of the city of Akakor, did John finally switch the machine off.
He descended the framework till he reached Celeste. “We won Celeste, Atlantis is again the ultimate and supreme power in Agartha.”
Celeste watched in horror the intense glee in the horrific smile of John.
